Once you get your team together tell the folks at the Recreation Centre. Simply send an email with your details (Team Name, Members) to pnrecreation@massey.ac.nz. This will help us keep track of Massey participants and we'll send you info on the events and activities we have planned for the day.

If you would like to take part but are not sure how to get started or want to find a team then pnrecreation@massey.ac.nz will be able to help you with that as well.

And the Round the Lake website has lots of information about the event, accommodation and more.

Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge 2010

Saturday, November 27, 2010

The Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge is the defining cycle event in New Zealand. The course covers a 160 km loop around Lake Taupo. It regularly attracts over 10, 000 participants from pro-racers to first-time riders. You can ride in a relay team, or solo, and you can even choose to complete multiple laps of the lake at once. In 2008 a mountain bike race was included and in 2009 a week of "CycleMania" was introduced that will continue for 2010. So there is something for everyone who rides a bike.

The Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge for 2010 will be held on Saturday, November 27. Please check the official website for more details.

"Taupo" is a great excuse to hang out with your friends and family for a weekend in Taupo. With 10, 000 riders plus support people, it is one of Taupo's busiest weekends and the town provides a great atmosphere.

Massey Cycling is encouraging Massey staff and friends to have a go at riding around the lake. This blog will keep you up-to-date with local rides (Wellington, Manawatu and Auckland) to use as a build-up and help you set training goals. Massey experts in Sport and Exercise Science will be holding information sessions on how to train for your event, basic bike maintenance, and sports nutrition. Keep checking the blog for times and locations.

So start thinking about which event is for you and convince your colleagues to ride around the lake with you.
